The Greenest Person… Who will it Be?
Boyd Cohen, inspired by his son Mateo, has begun the search for the greenest person on earth. There is a questionnaire you can take on Cohen’s website: www.3rdwhale.com . The newspaper stated: In addition to bragging rights, the winner of the greenest person in the world competition will have a pod of belugas named after them.
Good luck!
No commentsDIY Sustainability and Rainforests
Today I made significant additions to the Rainforests page. I found this site called Environmental Youth Alliance which has instructions for building a wind turbine, a solar array, and some other things, and I thought I might as well put up instructions for that kind of thing on Cobwebs and Seaslugs. First I will build my own ones, and make adjustments to improve efficiency, and then I will put up instructions and pictures on a “DIY Sustainability” page.
No commentsBusy
I have been very busy recently with school work, band concerts, trying to organize a junk fair, looking at high schools to apply to, preparing for my karate grading, etc. I will try to get some participants in the junk for sustainability project and get a set date for the fair. Also, lately, I have been working on my fourth letter to Gordon Campbell. Kevin Falcon finally mailed me, concerning Gateway, like Campbell asked him to. I will write a letter to him too. The letter he (or some person who writes letters for him) wrote me will be posed on the soon-to-be-opened Gateway page about his corrupt transportation project. Another thing I could not post was that even before the letter from Kevin Falcon, I got a response from Nintendo to the letter on how they should use their gaming systems for environmental education. They said that it was a good idea, but they got so many suggestions they couldn’t honour all of them, and eventually went on to if I want a career in gaming, etc., etc., so although it was a nice letter it was particularly unhelpful.
No commentsWho Turned out the Lights
Today is something like Canadian Turn Out The Lights Day. At school, people kept turning the lights on and off which was very frustrating. Most of the day they were off, but although we were saving a bit of electricity we had to work in the dark which was no fun.
Anyway, if you read this post today, be sure to turn out the lights and any other electrical appliances WHEN they are not necessary. (Of course, you should probably be doing this all the time, whether or not it is something like Canadian Turn Out The Lights Day.)
No commentsBad Day
Today everything seemed to go wrong for me. I wasn’t exactly satisfied with the newsletter article that was supposed to be about junk for sustainability. It was about two sentences long. I haven’t been able to do much on Cobwebs and Seaslugs because I have so much homework.
