Schoolwide Participation

March 28th, 2008 | Category: Mina's Posts

Today I talked to the principal of my school and if all goes well more kids will start doing the Junk for Sustainability program in my school. Hopefully there will be a junk fair or something near the end of the ear where everyone can sell what they’ve made and we will collect all the money and I will donate it to Adopt an Acre. Right now this is just wishful thinking but with luck it will become a reality.

Return of the Junk

March 27th, 2008 | Category: Mina's Posts

I started making more things out of junk. I am working on a model castle and I have already made lots of other neat things which I will post pictures of as soon as I get a chance. Yesterday I decided where the donations and profits from the Cobwebs and Seaslugs online store will go to; the Adopt an Acre program from The Nature Conservancy. It is currently saving rainforests on the Osa Peninsula in Costa Rica.

Tigerbalm Results

March 17th, 2008 | Category: Mina's Posts

I did pretty good at the Tigerbalm Internationals. I got a bronze medal in fighting, or sparring, and silver in katas, or routines.

I am waiting for a response to my letter to Nintendo and am considering mailing Kevin Falcon, Minister of Transportation on the subject of Gateway. I would also like to meet up with my friend who is on the spotted owls issue because I think we could make a bigger difference if we work together.

In a few days I will go to the Tigerbalm Internationals, a big karate tournament.  I am really excited and I hope I do well in the competition.

Tom Brown’s Field Guide: Nature and Survival for Children

March 12th, 2008 | Category: Mina's Posts

A couple days ago I got a book in the mail that my dad had ordered from Amazon at my request. Guess what it was called—Tom Brown’s Field Guide: Nature and Survival for Children. It is a really great book and I think that if everyone followed the same philosophy as the author, the world would be a far, far better place. So I highly recommend it to young wilderness survival enthusiasts like me and anyone who is interested in teaching kids about nature, conservation and wilderness survival skill. The book is also one of the reasons I have not been blogging much lately.
